Back in 1981, when Princess Diana married Prince Charles, she had two wedding gowns created. They were both exact replicas of each other, in case something happened to the original gown.
Now, as soon-to-be Princess Kate Middleton prepares for her wedding day, she's beaten her late mother-in-law in the dress count. Kate is having not one, not two, but three wedding dresses made for her big day!
As of now, we're still unsure of who the designer will be, although several big names have been tossed around. Diane von Furstenberg believes that Kate should wear a dress designed in Alexander McQueen's name. Jasper Conran has been thrown into the mix as well.
Although perplexing, Kate is said to have intended for the mystery. In fact, the reason behind her multiple gowns is to insure that if the designer of her first dress is discovered, she'll still have two backups!
