So, its been a little while.

I MET BRYANBOY!!!

I get it. Really, I do.

I've neglected this blog so much, and I completely understand if no one actually reads this post. But I really hope some of you do, because so, so much has happened within the past year, and I really want to share it with everyone. In fact, big things are still happening, and I hope to do a better job at documenting and sharing it all.

So, last year I published a very similar post to the one that this post will be: a breakdown of pretty much every significant thing that happened to me in 2013 and since my last post. So, without further ado, here we go.

January: I ended my last post with an exciting statement that I would be working market week at Stella McCartney come January, but unfortunately, I had some serious health issues, and it didn't quite pan out. But not to worry; the rest of the year went very well!

MEET CHLOE AND KENZO
About two weeks ago I was browsing through Pet Finder, and I came across these two little puppies. They are Chihuahua mixes, somewhere between 3-6 months, and brother and sister. They were brought into a city shelter after their old owner no longer wanted them.
I knew I had to meet them, so I quickly emailed the shelter and met them the next day. It was love at first sight!
I’ve had them for about a week and a half, and they are by far the most adorable puppies I’ve ever seen. It breaks my heart that they were abandoned at such a young age, but I’m so happy that I was able to give two dogs a home instead of going through a pet store or a breeder.
I named them ChloĆ© and Kenzo, after two of my favorite fashion houses.

February - April: This was a busy few months. First off, I adopted two puppies! It was crazy, because I wasn't even seriously looking for a dog, let alone two, but I came across their profiles while browsing PetFinder.com. They are two Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mixes, who are brother and sister, and were only three months old when I adopted them. I named them Kenzo and Chloe after two of my favorite fashion houses.

Also, I started interning at Burberry. This was an amazing internship, not only because its a great (British!) company, with a CEO (now former CEO, Angela Ahrendts) who I admire and have written countless term papers on, and which has incredible employee-only sample sales (hello, Prorsum), but because I learned what is probably the most important lesson of all: its OK to change your mind.

Now, for those of you who were reading way back in 2011 when I first started writing, you may recall that my lifelong dream was always to be a Buyer at Saks Fifth Avenue. Well, at some point during my Wholesale Internship at Burberry, I changed my mind.

My street on the Upper West Side.
I decided that I want to pursue a career in Public Relations, contrary to my initial thoughts after my first experience in PR a little while back (which you can read about here.)

Also, in April, I moved to a new apartment on the Upper West Side. Usually, I tend not to leave the Chelsea/SoHo area, but I completely fell in love with the neighborhood! I live right near the park, in the most perfect pre-war, pet-friendly apartment.

May - August: I interned at Proenza Schouler for the summer. After deciding that I wanted to shift my focus to PR, I started looking for summer internships that were more in line with my new goals. I ended up getting hired on the spot for an internship at one of my favorite fashion houses: Proenza Schouler!

I've always admired younger, New York-based designers, like my all-time favorite, Alexander Wang. Proenza Schouler, designed by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCoullough, was founded in 2003, after the designers graduated from Parsons. In the past ten years, the company has gone on to become one of the most influential fashion houses worldwide.

Eric and I (and Chloe's little head!) a few weeks ago.
Also, I stopped working at Juicy Couture, and got a job as a Sunglasses Specialist at Bloomingdale's in SoHo in May.

September - December: I interned at PR Consulting. After my experience at Proenza Schouler, I thought it would be a good idea to try interning for an agency, especially because I had only ever interned in-house for designers.

I was hired by someone who actually used to work with my boss at Proenza Schouler, which proves how small the industry really is sometimes. During my internship here, I worked with three brands - Versace, Versus Versace, and Christopher Kane, instead of just one.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience and I learned a lot, but I don't think it was a great fit; I definitely prefer to work in-house and focus 100% on one designer.

Also, my boyfriend, Eric, and I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary a few days ago, which is crazy.

I just finished my second week interning in the Public Relations department at Tom Ford. I know what you’re thinking — Yes, it’s my spring internship, and yes, I started early, because I’m an overachiever like that.

So far, it’s amazing. Not only is Tom Ford one of my favorite fashion houses, but I love what I’m doing and everyone I work with, and the showroom is so beautiful.

I’ll keep everyone updated over the next few months.

So, that was my year. What's next, you ask?

Well, I was hired to intern in Public Relations at Tom Ford for the Spring semester, but I ended up starting early (about two weeks ago) because I'm an over-achiever like that. Just kidding. Kind of.

Also, I think sometimes people reading this blog forget that I'm still a college student... But I'll actually be graduating this time next year! It was originally supposed to be in May 2014, but I took a little break this past spring, and decided to push it back one semester. I'm not ready for the real world just yet.

Until next time,

Mallory
